ADC–Peter Obi Clash Signals Opposition Collapse – Lagos APC

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the recent tensions between the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi as a “public confession of collapse.”

In a statement on Tuesday, Lagos APC spokesman Seye Oladejo warned that the 2027 election is not a stage for “confused coalitions or political experiments.” The comments came in response to the ADC urging Obi to clarify his position on joining its coalition.

Oladejo said the opposition’s internal disputes have spilled into the public arena, reflecting widespread disorganization. He also cautioned them against diverting President Bola Tinubu’s attention with what he called “needless politicking and manufactured drama.”

“While the opposition battles itself in broad daylight, APC remains focused on governance, economic recovery, security stabilization, infrastructure expansion, and national renewal under the firm leadership of President Tinubu,” Oladejo stated.

He added, “There is no dispute about the enormous national challenges before the nation, and President Tinubu remains steadily, courageously, and competently poised to overcome them for the collective benefit of Nigerians. APC, as the ruling party, has no reason to rush into electioneering. Our achievements across infrastructure, economy, security, social investment, education, health, transportation, and national reforms will speak for themselves at the appropriate time.

“The opposition, meanwhile, offers nothing but recycled slogans, empty promises, and deceptions that Nigerians now see through. Let the record be clear: 2027 is not for confused coalitions or political experiments; it is for prepared leadership. The ADC–Obi face-off confirms the opposition’s full-blown confusion.”

Oladejo also criticized Obi’s approach to politics, describing it as opportunistic. “Peter Obi has perfected a strange political posture—one of a presidential aspirant who rarely competes but rather waits like a panther, stalking political parties in distress to strike when desperation peaks. With Nigeria’s numerous political parties, it is no surprise that, just as in 2023, he awaits a free presidential ticket to fall into his lap. This is not political organization—it is a political lottery masquerading as strategy.”
