The Super Eagles of Nigeria have touched down in Morocco in impressive fashion as preparations heat up for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The team and coaching staff traveled from Cairo, Egypt, where they had been based following Tuesday’s international friendly against the Egyptian national team. With the match concluded, all focus now shifts to the continental tournament in North Africa.
In a display of culture and unity, the Nigerian delegation made a stylish statement on arrival. The players wore coordinated deep green traditional outfits, featuring short-sleeved tunics with fine embroidery paired with tailored trousers. Matching native caps and footwear ranging from leather slip-ons to casual trainers completed the ensemble.
Confirming the team’s arrival, Super Eagles media officer Promise Efoghe said: “The Super Eagles have touched down in Fes, Morocco.”
Nigeria joins several other African nations already in the host country, including South Africa, Comoros, Mali, and Zimbabwe, with Benin and Senegal arriving as the tournament countdown continues.
Drawn in Group C, the Super Eagles will face Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda in the group stage. The three-time AFCON champions are seen as one of the teams to watch after narrowly missing out on the title at the last edition, losing 2-1 to hosts Côte d’Ivoire in the final.
In Morocco, Nigeria’s campaign kicks off against Tanzania on December 23 at Fez Stadium, followed by a heavyweight clash with Tunisia three days later, and concluding with a group-stage game against Uganda on December 30.
Only the top two teams from each group automatically advance to the round of 16, with four additional third-placed sides also moving forward.
