At least seven countries have been knocked out of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco following the conclusion of recent group-stage fixtures.

The teams eliminated from the competition so far are Uganda, Botswana, Zambia, Comoros, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and Zimbabwe, all of whom failed to secure enough points to progress beyond the group stage.

Uganda became the most recent side to exit the tournament after suffering a 3–1 defeat to Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Tuesday night in their final Group C match. The East African side entered the encounter needing a victory to keep their qualification hopes alive but were unable to match Nigeria’s intensity and tactical discipline.

Nigeria dominated large spells of the game, using a blend of experience, pace, and attacking precision to control proceedings and secure a comfortable win that sealed their spot in the knockout rounds.

As a result, Uganda finished at the bottom of Group C with just one point, behind Nigeria, Tunisia, and Tanzania, bringing their AFCON journey to an end.

The Super Eagles’ performance further highlighted their growing confidence in the tournament, with improvements in both attack and defence strengthening their reputation as serious contenders ahead of the Round of 16.

Qualified Teams So Far

While several nations have exited the competition, seven teams have already confirmed their places in the Round of 16. They include:

  • Nigeria
  • Tunisia
  • Algeria
  • Mali
  • Morocco
  • South Africa
  • Egypt

With group-stage matches still underway, more teams are expected to book their spots in the coming days as the competition intensifies.

Africa’s premier football tournament continues to deliver excitement in Morocco, featuring surprise eliminations, standout performances, and thrilling encounters as the quest for continental glory unfolds.
