As Nigeria gear up for the Round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has received full payment of his financial entitlements from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), boosting morale within the camp.

Reports from Nigerian sports outlet Sports Unlimited, citing a source in Fez, Morocco, confirmed that the French manager has been paid completely, including his January 2026 salary. The move has reportedly created a positive atmosphere within the squad ahead of the tournament’s decisive phase.

According to the source, Chelle has earned $60,000 so far—calculated at $20,000 per match—while also receiving a daily allowance of $400 since the team’s training camp opened in Egypt. The insider noted that the NFF’s efforts have left both coaching staff and players satisfied, with no financial disputes or off-field distractions affecting preparations.

Nigeria’s strong administrative backing has coincided with impressive performances on the pitch. The Super Eagles delivered a flawless group-stage campaign, winning all three matches to secure maximum nine points. They are now set to face Mozambique on Monday in the knockout round.

Ademola Lookman, crowned African Player of the Year in 2024, has been instrumental in the team’s success. The 28-year-old forward expressed confidence in Nigeria’s trajectory at the tournament.

“It’s been excellent—three wins from three games and nine points. That’s very positive for us,” Lookman told Ademola Victor TV. “We’re moving in the right direction and want to keep this momentum going.”

The Atalanta star contributed two goals and two assists during the group phase. He registered a goal and an assist in Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Tanzania and repeated that contribution in a thrilling 3-2 victory against Tunisia. Having already secured qualification, he was rested for the final group fixture against Uganda, but his influence remains clear.

Looking ahead to the knockout rounds, Lookman emphasized that the team fears no opponent and remains focused on lifting the trophy.

“There’s no team we’re trying to avoid. I respect every side in this competition,” he said. “To win a tournament, you have to be ready to face the strongest teams. We’re prepared for whatever comes next and determined to keep winning.”

With financial stability secured and confidence high following a perfect group stage, the Super Eagles enter the knockout rounds in strong shape both on and off the field.
