Controversial Nigerian street-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, is reportedly in hiding after an alleged physical altercation with actress Ashabi Simple, one of the mothers of his children.
According to Gossip News Now, the incident reportedly took place on Thursday, January 1, 2026, when Ashabi visited Portable’s bar in Ogun State. Social media footage of the confrontation quickly went viral, attracting widespread attention.
In the video, Ashabi—frequently referred to publicly as one of Portable’s baby mamas—insisted that she be recognised as a wife rather than merely a baby mama. Portable, however, maintained that only his legally wedded wife, Bewaji, holds that title, while other women he has children with are considered baby mamas.
The disagreement escalated rapidly, with allegations that Portable pushed and physically assaulted Ashabi during the exchange. Following the altercation, Ashabi and her siblings reportedly filed a formal complaint with the police, accusing him of assault and abusive conduct.
Ashabi later took to social media to share her account, explaining that she had visited the bar at Portable’s request, but the encounter deteriorated after a misunderstanding escalated into a serious dispute. She further alleged that he confiscated their mobile phones and issued threats during the incident.
Police sources confirmed that officers were dispatched to Portable’s residence to make an arrest, but he reportedly fled before their arrival. The officers instead met his pregnant wife at the premises.
In an Instagram video recounting the incident, Ashabi said:
“I was celebrating the New Year happily with my family when you called me, saying you were not in a good mood. I told you I was at my dad’s place for the New Year, and you asked me to bring food for you. I agreed.
“When I arrived at your bar, I called you and you asked me to meet you outside. We had a small argument there, and you slapped and beat me, collected our phones, and threatened my siblings and me with an axe.”
