Nigerian reality TV star Tacha has come to the defense of Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen, following a brief on-field disagreement with teammate Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s victory over Mozambique.
The incident reportedly unfolded after the match, as Osimhen and Lookman exchanged words on the pitch before fellow teammates intervened to calm the situation.
Taking to social media, Tacha urged fans to refrain from attacking Osimhen, highlighting his role as one of Nigeria’s premier football talents. She argued that his contributions to the national team consistently demonstrate dedication and passion, and that the confrontation was a result of competitive drive rather than poor sportsmanship.
In her posts, Tacha drew a comparison to Cristiano Ronaldo, noting that if a player of Ronaldo’s stature had reacted similarly during a match, the response from fans and media would have been far less severe. She wrote:
“Nigerians and ‘see finish’! Don’t you realize Victor Osimhen is our own Cristiano Ronaldo? If Ronaldo did the same thing, there wouldn’t be this much uproar. But of course, it’s Osimhen. Let the coach bench him for the next match—I want to see something. You guys should free Victor Osimhen.”
She further criticized fans who she believes are too quick to dismiss or harshly judge the striker, urging the public to rally behind their own players instead of tearing them down. Tacha even suggested that allowing Osimhen to sit out a future game would let Nigerians appreciate firsthand his significance to the team’s attacking capabilities.
The reality TV personality emphasized that Osimhen’s determination and commitment on the pitch should be celebrated, and that isolated incidents of conflict among teammates are natural in high-pressure situations.
