Antoine Semenyo, 26, has committed to Manchester City on a five-and-a-half-year contract and will take up the number 42 shirt as he begins life under Pep Guardiola. The club hailed the signing as a major boost to their attacking depth as they push for success on all fronts this season.

His arrival comes after a meteoric rise in the Premier League, where he became one of Bournemouth’s most explosive wide forwards.

Born in London to Ghanaian parents, Semenyo started his senior football journey at Bristol City and sharpened his skills during loan stints with Bath City, Newport County, and Sunderland.

His switch to Bournemouth midway through the 2022–2023 campaign marked a turning point. Primarily deployed on the left wing, he evolved into a constant danger—combining speed, power, and a direct style of play. Over his spell with the Cherries, he made 110 appearances, performances that eventually placed him firmly on the radar of the Premier League champions.

Now a key member of Ghana’s Black Stars, Semenyo is expected to bring energy, versatility, and added goal threat to Guardiola’s squad. He is immediately eligible for selection and could feature in next Tuesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Newcastle.

After putting pen to paper, the forward expressed his excitement without hesitation.

“I’m incredibly proud to join Manchester City,” Semenyo said.

“I’ve followed City closely over the past decade under Pep Guardiola. They’ve dominated the Premier League and achieved remarkable success in the Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup.

“The standards here are unbelievably high. The club has elite players, top-class facilities, and one of the greatest managers of all time in Pep.

“I know I have a lot of room to grow, and joining City at this stage of my career feels perfect. Being here is a real honour.

“My best football is still ahead of me—I truly believe that. And with City competing in four competitions, I’m confident I can contribute to a strong second half of the season.

“The Etihad is my new home now. I can’t wait to step out in front of the fans and show everyone what I can bring to the team.”

Hugo Viana, Manchester City’s Director of Football, praised Semenyo’s mentality and drive, noting that his determination to join the club made the deal straightforward.

“Antoine is an extremely exciting addition for us,” Viana said. “From the very beginning, he made it clear Manchester City was his only choice. His passion for the club has been evident throughout the entire process.”
