Former Kano State Governor and immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, has returned to the country after spending several weeks abroad in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The politician arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Saturday afternoon aboard an Emirates flight, landing at approximately 4:30 pm before proceeding onward to Abuja later that evening. His return comes at a time when political activities in Kano State are drawing increasing attention.

According to a statement released by his Chief of Staff, Muhammad Garba, Ganduje is set to commence a series of high-level consultations. These meetings are expected to involve party figures and other influential stakeholders as part of efforts to assess the current political climate in Kano.

The discussions, as outlined in the statement, will focus on evaluating shifting political dynamics and strengthening engagement with party leadership structures. The aim, it noted, is to ensure coordinated strategies and unified direction within the party framework.

Beyond consultations, Ganduje is also scheduled to take part in the APC’s nationwide electronic membership registration initiative. The digital registration exercise, originally introduced during his time as National Chairman, was designed to modernize the party’s internal database and improve organizational efficiency.

The e-registration program seeks to achieve several objectives, including enhancing record accuracy, making membership data easily accessible, and reinforcing strategic planning within the party. By digitizing its processes, the APC intends to maintain a transparent and structured membership system.

Garba emphasized that the former governor remains focused on reinforcing party unity and promoting inclusive dialogue, particularly in Kano State where political alignments continue to evolve. His engagements are expected to contribute to internal cohesion and long-term democratic stability within the party.

Commentary & Analysis

Ganduje’s return signals a renewed phase of political engagement, especially in Kano, a state known for its strategic importance in Nigeria’s political landscape. As a former governor and ex-party chairman, his influence remains significant within party circles.

The emphasis on consultations suggests an attempt to consolidate support and align party structures ahead of future political developments. In politically dynamic states like Kano, behind-the-scenes negotiations and stakeholder dialogues often shape public outcomes.

Additionally, the APC’s e-registration drive reflects a broader shift among political parties toward digital transformation. By prioritizing credible and updated membership data, the party aims to strengthen internal governance and reduce disputes related to records and participation.

Overall, Ganduje’s re-entry into active political discussions may play a key role in shaping both party strategy and the broader political trajectory of Kano State in the months ahead.
