Former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has revealed that those who once sought to discredit Hadiza Bala Usman, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy and Coordination and Head of the Central Delivery Unit, are now facing hardship.
Gossip News Now recalls that Rotimi Amaechi, former Rivers State Governor, had previously recommended the suspension of Bala-Usman and called for a probe during his tenure as Minister of Transportation under the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
Since leaving office, Amaechi has been openly critical of the current administration, in which Bala Usman holds a key cabinet role. At an event marking his 60th birthday last year, Amaechi claimed Nigerians were “hungry” and suggested that such discontent could lead to the removal of President Tinubu.
Speaking at a colloquium in Abuja on Tuesday to celebrate Bala Usman’s 50th birthday, Oshiomhole indirectly referenced Amaechi while praising the presidential aide’s resilience. He highlighted that those who attempted to tarnish her reputation during her time as Managing Director of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) are now “hungry.”
Oshiomhole said:
“When you were appointed MD of the Nigerian Ports Authority, some people drunk with power tried to discredit you and even attacked your family’s name. But in the end, they ruined themselves. They are now hungry—lacking the strength to suppress even the best among us. When I heard this, I prayed that their hunger remain until they return to their creator.”
He went on to commend Bala Usman’s leadership and achievements:
“Look at you today, celebrating your birthday with the Vice President in attendance. While those who sought to ruin you struggle, you are honoured by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Chief of Staff, and all of us. This is the reward of embracing your father’s teachings and maintaining integrity.”
Oshiomhole reflected on her early life, saying, “People once described you as stubborn, but I am proud of your intellect and perspective, especially during the elections. When President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed you as a policy advisor, it was because policy is central to governance and its outcomes determine success. He appointed you not as a favour but because your skills were essential for reform.”
He continued, “Policies cannot be implemented haphazardly. Those who resist reforms often complain, but for those who are committed to progress, risks are necessary to design and execute policies that ensure tomorrow is better than today. You exemplify that approach, and it is why you remain indispensable to this administration.”
