Champions League Matchday 7: Arsenal Maintain Perfection Real Madrid Dominate Spurs Shine

Tuesday night in the UEFA Champions League delivered excitement, goals, and surprises as Arsenal, Real Madrid, Sporting CP, and Bodø/Glimt made headlines on Matchday 7.

Arsenal showcased their European authority in Milan with a controlled 3-1 victory over Inter. Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring with a brace before halftime, marking his first Champions League goals since November 2023. Inter briefly responded through Petar Sučić, but the Gunners held firm. Goalkeeper David Raya made crucial saves, and substitute Viktor Gyökeres curled in a late goal to seal Arsenal’s eighth consecutive win in the competition. Mikel Arteta’s side continues to set the pace in their group.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid bounced back emphatically from recent setbacks, demolishing Monaco 6-1 at the Bernabéu. Kylian Mbappé, facing his former club, netted twice in the first half to put Madrid in control. After the break, the scoring spree continued with goals from Franco Mastantuono, a Thilo Kehrer own goal, and Vinícius Júnior, before Jude Bellingham completed the rout. Monaco’s lone goal from Jordan Teze did little to slow the rampant hosts.

The night’s biggest shock came in Norway as Bodø/Glimt stunned Manchester City 3-1. Kasper Høgh scored twice in quick succession, both assists by Ole Didrik Blomberg, punishing early City pressure. Jens Petter Hauge then thrilled the home crowd with a superb strike shortly after halftime. Although Rayan Cherki pulled one back, City’s task became more difficult when captain Rodri was sent off, and Hauge nearly added a fourth, hitting the bar.

Tottenham Hotspur also had a successful night in North London, defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-0. Cristian Romero opened the scoring from Wilson Odobert’s cross, and Spurs took full control after Daniel Svensson was shown a red card. Dominic Solanke, returning from injury, scored a polished second goal, helping Spurs manage the game comfortably in the final minutes.

Sporting CP claimed a late, decisive win, beating Paris 2-1 in Lisbon. After Luis Suárez broke the deadlock, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia equalized, only for Suárez to head in a rebound for the winner.
