A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dickson Iroegbu, has urged opposition politicians to close ranks and work collectively to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Iroegbu made the call on Friday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time, where he spoke against the backdrop of political developments in Kano State.
The PDP member, who is also part of the Obidient Movement, accused the ruling APC of lacking a clear development agenda for Nigerians and alleged that its years in power have plunged millions of citizens into severe poverty.
According to him, the consequences of allowing the APC to remain in office beyond 2027 would be dire for both the country and its people.
Iroegbu warned that the ruling party would be taken by surprise at the polls, insisting that the next election would pit ordinary Nigerians against a political elite he claimed had impoverished the masses.
Drawing from his personal background, he said his familiarity with northern politics gave him insight into the evolving political dynamics of the region.
He alleged that the APC is operating on what he described as a weakening mandate, arguing that public dissatisfaction has continued to grow nationwide.
Calling for unity among opposition forces, Iroegbu stressed the need for convergence and strategic alignment to confront what he described as a shared challenge.
He likened the current political situation to a famous warning by former President Muhammadu Buhari on corruption, stating that failure to act decisively could have grave consequences.
“In the same way,” he said, “if we fail to end APC in 2027, the APC may end Nigeria and Nigerians.”
