Prices of petrol and cooking gas fell on a year-on-year basis in December 2025, pointing to a gradual reduction in household energy expenses across Nigeria, according to separate reports released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Gossip News Now reports that figures from the statistics agency indicate that both Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)—widely used for cooking—and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, became cheaper compared to December 2024, while also posting slight month-on-month reductions.

Although the decline was recorded in most states and geopolitical zones, the NBS noted that prices still differed significantly from one location to another.
