APC Will Remain Strong After Tinubu Era, Says Party Chairman Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that the ruling party will continue to remain politically dominant even after the presidency of Bola Ahmed Tinubu comes to an end.

Speaking during a television appearance, Yilwatda dismissed suggestions that the future of the APC is tied entirely to one political figure, insisting that the party’s foundation stretches far beyond the current administration.

APC Leadership Praises Tinubu’s Long-Term Influence

The APC chairman acknowledged Tinubu’s significant role in shaping the party over the years, especially during the coalition-building efforts that led to the party’s rise before the 2015 general elections.

He explained that Tinubu played a major role in bringing together different political blocs and interests, helping the APC emerge as a formidable national platform.

According to Gossip News Now, Yilwatda maintained that the party’s growth was already visible long before Tinubu eventually became president.

Reconciliation Efforts Credited For Past Successes

Yilwatda also reflected on Tinubu’s involvement in resolving internal disputes within the party during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

He noted that Tinubu previously chaired a reconciliation committee tasked with stabilizing the party and resolving disagreements among members ahead of key elections.

In a differently arranged remark, the APC chairman suggested that the reconciliation strategy helped strengthen the party’s electoral chances and contributed to its victories at the time.

Tinubu Expected To Remain Influential After Office

The APC chairman further stated that Tinubu’s political influence would not disappear after leaving office.

He argued that future politicians and party leaders would continue to rely on the president’s experience, political network, and strategic understanding of Nigerian politics.

Yilwatda described Tinubu as a long-term political figure whose mentorship and guidance could still shape the APC in years to come.

APC Rejects Claims Of Weak Northern Support

Addressing concerns over the APC’s popularity in northern Nigeria, Yilwatda pointed to recent by-election performances as evidence that the party still enjoys strong nationwide support.

He mentioned victories recorded in states such as Kano State, Kaduna State, Kebbi State, Adamawa State, Kogi State, and Niger State as proof that the party remains competitive across regions.

He insisted that the APC’s electoral strength cuts across ethnic and religious divisions, contrary to claims made by critics and opposition groups.

Party Expresses Confidence Ahead Of 2027

Yilwatda maintained that the APC remains focused on maintaining unity and expanding its support base ahead of the next general elections.

He argued that the party’s organisational structure and national spread give it an advantage in future contests regardless of leadership transitions.

The APC chairman also appeared optimistic that the party would continue attracting voters even after Tinubu’s tenure.

Commentary and Analysis

The APC leadership’s emphasis on continuity reflects growing conversations about Nigeria’s post-Tinubu political future as attention slowly shifts toward the 2027 elections.

By stressing that the party existed before Tinubu and will survive after him, the APC appears eager to project institutional strength rather than dependence on a single political personality.

At the same time, repeated references to Tinubu’s political experience highlight the president’s continued influence within the party’s long-term strategy.

Political observers believe the APC’s challenge going forward will involve balancing Tinubu’s legacy with the emergence of new leaders capable of sustaining the party’s nationwide appeal after his presidency.
