Court Sets New Date in Ongoing Case Involving Blessing CEO
Fresh developments have emerged in the legal battle involving popular relationship expert and social media personality Blessing CEO, whose real name is Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, as a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, postponed its decision on her bail request.
The matter came before Justice D.I. Dipeolu, who chose to reserve ruling on the application after listening to arguments presented by both the prosecution and defence teams. The court is expected to announce its decision on June 9, 2026.
Details of the Allegations
The case against Blessing CEO was initiated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) through its Lagos Zonal Directorate 1. Prosecutors accuse the social media influencer of offences linked to alleged fraud and unlawful conversion of funds amounting to ₦36 million.
According to the allegations, the money was collected from Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye after assurances were allegedly given that a residential property lease could be secured in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
Investigators claim the transaction involved a six-bedroom detached duplex situated within the Lekki axis and contend that the representation made to the complainant was misleading.
Refund Claim Raised During Proceedings
During an earlier appearance before the court, legal counsel representing Blessing CEO, P.I. Nwafor, informed the judge that a substantial portion of the disputed funds had already been returned.
The defence maintained that ₦24 million had been refunded and indicated that discussions were ongoing regarding the outstanding balance. Counsel expressed optimism that the parties could reach a settlement outside the courtroom.
However, prosecutors argued that any private resolution between the parties would not automatically end the criminal case. They stressed that the action before the court remains a matter pursued by the Federal Government, regardless of any repayment arrangement.
Not Guilty Plea Entered
After reviewing the case, the court directed that the charges be formally read to the defendant. In response, Blessing CEO denied all allegations and entered a plea of not guilty.
Following the plea, the prosecution sought a date for trial and requested that the defendant remain in custody while the matter progresses through the judicial process.
The defence team, on the other hand, explained that the charges had only recently been served and noted that steps were already being taken to complete the bail application process.
Judge Allows Settlement Talks to Continue
While acknowledging the possibility of discussions between both parties, Justice D.I. Dipeolu stated that such negotiations could proceed independently without affecting the ongoing court proceedings.
The judge subsequently ordered that Blessing CEO remain in the custody of the EFCC pending further action on the case and adjourned the proceedings.
At the latest hearing, legal representatives returned to court to argue the bail application, after which the judge announced that a ruling would be delivered on the scheduled date.
