CAF Brings Its 2026 Awards Ceremony Back To Lagos
The Confederation of African Football has selected Lagos to host the 2026 edition of its annual awards ceremony.
The event will bring together leading figures from African football, including players, coaches, administrators and other stakeholders from across the continent.
The ceremony is expected to recognise outstanding performances and contributions to football during the year.
For Lagos, the announcement represents another return to the CAF Awards calendar after the city previously hosted the ceremony on three occasions.
Lagos Has Hosted The CAF Awards Three Times Before
The 2026 ceremony will not be Lagos’ first experience hosting the CAF Awards.
The Nigerian city previously staged the event in 2008, 2013 and 2014.
The latest hosting decision therefore gives Lagos a fourth opportunity to welcome one of African football’s most prominent annual gatherings.
The return also adds another major CAF event to Nigeria’s sporting calendar for 2026.

With both events scheduled for Nigeria, the country will play host to two significant CAF gatherings within the same period.

The decision to stage the CAF Awards in Lagos, alongside the planned Ordinary General Assembly in Abuja, gives Nigeria a prominent position on CAF’s 2026 calendar.
The two events will take place in different Nigerian cities and will involve different aspects of the continent’s football activities.
While the General Assembly will bring attention to CAF’s organisational affairs, the awards ceremony will provide a platform for recognising achievements across African football.
Together, the events represent a significant period of CAF activity in Nigeria.
What Happens Next?
Attention will first turn to the CAF Ordinary General Assembly in Abuja on November 21, followed by the CAF Awards in Lagos on December 7.
