Fresh concerns have emerged in Osun State following a violent attack that left Asimiyu Ajibola, the Chairman of the Accord Party (AP) in Osogbo Local Government Area, critically injured.

The politician, widely known as Baba Isila, was reportedly attacked alongside several associates during a late-night shooting incident in Osogbo, sparking calls for a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Reports indicate that the attack occurred on Wednesday night around 9:50 p.m. near the Community Bank area within the MDS axis of Osogbo.

According to accounts from individuals who were inside the vehicle, the victims were travelling in a blue Toyota Corolla when armed men allegedly began pursuing them. The assailants reportedly opened fire multiple times while chasing the vehicle through the area.

In a recounting of the frightening ordeal, one of the survivors explained that what began as a routine journey suddenly turned into a desperate attempt to escape armed attackers who relentlessly targeted their vehicle.

As the shooting intensified, the occupants reportedly drove toward the Dugbe Divisional Police Headquarters in search of immediate protection.

Their arrival at the police station is said to have forced the attackers to abandon the pursuit and flee from the scene before security personnel could apprehend them.

While others escaped the attack, Asimiyu Ajibola was not as fortunate, having sustained severe gunshot injuries during the incident.

Medical Emergency After Shooting

Following the attack, the injured politician was rushed to the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, where medical personnel began emergency treatment.

At the time the incident became public, sources indicated that his condition remained critical, raising concerns among supporters, political associates, and residents of the state.
