As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State has publicly declared that it will take direction from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The declaration was made during Wike’s “thank you” visit to the area on Sunday, where party leaders and stakeholders expressed their readiness to align with his political decisions moving forward.
Addressing the gathering, the APC Chairman in Ahoada West, Rejoice Otobo, assured the former Rivers State governor that members of the party in the council area are united in their commitment to follow his leadership. She referenced the developmental strides recorded during Wike’s time as governor as justification for their continued support.
“We are waiting for your direction ahead of the 2027 elections. Wherever you instruct us to go, we will go, and whatever you ask us to do, we will do. The people of Ahoada West have collectively agreed to follow your lead,” Otobo stated.
In a similar show of solidarity, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, Ikechukwu Obuzor, also pledged loyalty to Wike, indicating that support for the former governor cuts across party lines within the local government.
“I want to assure you that we stand solidly with you. Wherever you go, we will follow. Come 2027, Ahoada West will fully align with you,” Obuzor said.
Earlier in the event, the Chairman of Ahoada West LGA, Chita Eugene, described Wike as “the political field marshal of the South-South,” applauding his contributions to infrastructure and development across Rivers State during his tenure as governor.
Eugene emphasized that the visit was more than a ceremonial engagement, noting that it served as an opportunity to recognize impactful leadership and years of dedicated public service.
Also speaking, Rep. Victor Obuzor, who represents the Awelga-ONELGA Federal Constituency, maintained that Wike has earned broad-based backing due to his transformative role in the state’s development while in office.
The endorsements from both APC and PDP figures in Ahoada West underscore Wike’s enduring political influence in Rivers State as preparations for the 2027 elections gradually intensify.
