The Deputy Chief Whip of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Ted Elemeforo, has called on President Bola Tinubu and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to publicly apologize to former President Goodluck Jonathan for adopting a policy they once strongly opposed.
According to Gossip News Now, Elemeforo made the call during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Wednesday, where he accused the APC leadership of hypocrisy over its handling of the fuel subsidy issue.
He noted that Tinubu and several APC figures who had protested against fuel subsidy removal during Jonathan’s administration are now implementing the same policy they once condemned.
“In this country, there is always a double standard,” Elemeforo said. “People like Tinubu who protested against fuel subsidy need to publicly apologize to President Goodluck Jonathan for implementing what they earlier criticized.”
The lawmaker added that the APC’s actions contradict the reasons it gave Nigerians for voting Jonathan out of power in 2015, stressing that the party has become guilty of the same failures it once accused the PDP of.
Elemeforo also expressed deep mistrust in the current administration, asserting that the Tinubu-led government has failed to provide effective solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.
Speaking further on the ongoing wave of defections across political parties, the Bayelsa lawmaker said his decision to remain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was driven by conviction, insisting that the PDP remains a better alternative for Nigeria.
“I do not believe that the APC is a solution to Nigeria’s problems, and I have no faith in the Tinubu-led government,” he stated. “The PDP has a greater capacity to reposition this country and offer lasting solutions to the challenges we face.”
