The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has strongly criticised political figures he believes are aligning with individuals he accuses of disloyalty, warning that such alliances could eventually turn against them.
He made the remarks in Port Harcourt during the unveiling of the Rivers State office of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, where he addressed party faithful and stakeholders.
During his speech, Wike argued that anyone—regardless of position, whether senator, minister, lawmaker, or governor—who encourages or supports acts of betrayal would likely experience similar treatment in return. He stressed that political actions often produce consequences that reflect the choices leaders make.
He further cautioned that leaders seeking second terms or attempting to install preferred successors should avoid backing disloyal practices, insisting that such strategies could ultimately undermine their ambitions.
At the same gathering, the Rivers chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors reiterated its stance that political mobilisation in the state does not depend on a governor’s endorsement. Wike maintained that existing structures within the state are sufficient to organise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, Rivers political stakeholders already include senators, members of the National Assembly, state legislators, local government chairmen, and party executives across both the APC and PDP, giving them the capacity to operate independently.
He added that genuine political support is driven by personal conviction, explaining that those involved had voluntarily organised themselves to demonstrate commitment to the President’s agenda.
Wike also described the development as evidence of cooperation among various political actors in the state, noting that several leaders had openly aligned with the President.
His comments come amid a continuing dispute between him and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara over influence and control of the state’s political structure.
