A fresh wave of political criticism has emerged following remarks made by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu concerning Nigeria’s worsening security situation. The comments have drawn a strong response from Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a former spokesperson of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party.
Gossip News Now reports that Eze released a statement in Port Harcourt condemning the senator’s claim that opposition politicians are responsible for escalating insurgency and violence in the country. He described the allegation as irresponsible and accused Kalu of engaging in political loyalty that avoids confronting difficult truths.
According to Eze, leaders within the ruling circle should focus on offering honest advice to Bola Tinubu instead of shifting blame toward the opposition. He argued that Nigerians expect practical solutions to insecurity rather than public accusations that lack supporting evidence.
The political figure also questioned the logic behind suggesting that rival politicians could be behind widespread violence across the country. In his view, the suggestion ignores deeper problems affecting national security and distracts from the urgent need for decisive leadership.
Eze insisted that public officials must address the increasing cases of kidnappings, killings, and destruction of property affecting many parts of the country. He stressed that these problems persist despite substantial funds allocated annually to security operations.
Beyond criticizing Kalu, Eze also directed similar remarks toward Adams Oshiomhole. Oshiomhole had reportedly echoed the argument that political opponents were responsible for attempts to destabilize the current administration.
The critic challenged both senators to provide concrete proof for their claims. He argued that if they truly possess information about individuals sponsoring violence, they should publicly identify them instead of making broad allegations.
Eze further warned that accusations without evidence could create unnecessary tension in Nigeria’s political environment. In his opinion, such statements only deepen divisions rather than help address the underlying causes of insecurity.
Commentary and Analysis
The exchange highlights a recurring pattern in Nigerian politics, where national challenges—especially security—often become the subject of political blame games. When public figures accuse opponents without providing verifiable evidence, it can shift attention away from meaningful policy discussions.
Nigeria’s security crisis remains one of the country’s most pressing concerns, affecting communities across multiple regions. Citizens generally expect political leaders to collaborate on solutions rather than engage in partisan disputes over responsibility.
Analysts suggest that constructive dialogue, transparency, and accountability will be essential if the country hopes to effectively tackle insurgency, banditry, and other security threats. Without clear strategies and coordinated action, political disagreements may continue to overshadow practical responses to these challenges.
