Former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard is set to depart FC Seoul after both parties “mutually agreed” to terminate his contract.

The England international, who joined the South Korean side as a free agent in February 2024, will play his final match next Wednesday in an AFC Champions League fixture against Melbourne City.

Since arriving in the K League, the 32-year-old forward made 66 appearances, scoring 18 goals and establishing himself as one of the club’s most prominent foreign players.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Lingard expressed gratitude for his time in South Korea, praising the team’s atmosphere and the fans’ passion.

“My time in South Korea has been unbelievable, the football, the atmosphere and the passion around this club have been top class,” he wrote.
“I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity to play for such a massive club.”

FC Seoul confirmed that Lingard informed them of his desire to move on to the next stage of his football career, leading to the mutual decision to part ways. The club thanked him for his service and contributions as he prepares to close his chapter in the K League.
