Dele Momodu, a leading figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has publicly refuted claims that he urged his supporters to withdraw backing from former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, who recently joined the ADC.
The clarification follows a post on X (formerly Twitter) by a user identified as @judeski007, who stated support for the ADC coalition but questioned the wisdom of endorsing an elderly presidential aspirant. The user wrote, “Bob Dee, I hope you see this. I’ve been fully supportive of the ADC coalition, but we shouldn’t be pushing an 80-year-old candidate unless there are personal interests involved. If Atiku emerges, I’ll support Bola Tinubu.”
Momodu responded on Sunday via his verified X account, making it clear that he never instructed anyone to stop supporting Obi.
“At no point did I tell you not to support Obi. He is not my adversary,” he asserted.
He further emphasized that while he exercises the right to share opinions based on facts and historical context, individual political choices are entirely personal.
“I am entitled to present facts and historical evidence as I see them, and my political preference is mine alone. There’s no need for insults. In a contest driven by numbers, every voice matters,” Momodu added, reinforcing that his commentary was never a directive to his followers.
