Phyna, the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7, has shared her candid thoughts on why she wouldn’t recommend aspiring contestants to audition for the show anymore.
In a Twitch livestream, she reflected on the fleeting nature of fame post-show, noting that the public’s attention quickly shifts to new participants. “The charm housemates have on the show disappears afterward because the same fan base just moves on to the next set,” she explained, emphasizing that sustaining public interest is far more difficult once contestants leave the BBNaija house.
Phyna also commented on the decline in prestige associated with being a former housemate. She said that while many people assume life after BBNaija guarantees instant success, the reality is often very different. “Many ex-housemates quietly struggle despite what social media portrays — a life of luxury and comfort,” she added.
She highlighted that the social media portrayal of former contestants often masks the challenges they face outside the show. For Phyna, it’s important for potential participants to recognize the pressures and unpredictability of fame before auditioning.
“The show’s credibility has declined. Nowadays, telling someone you came out of BBNaija doesn’t carry the same respect it used to,” she said, underlining how much public perception has shifted over the years.
Her advice to future contestants is clear: go in with realistic expectations and prepare for the reality that fame may be short-lived, and the spotlight may not last beyond the season finale.
