Aloy Ejimakor, legal consultant to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has condemned the deployment of security forces to suppress peaceful protests at Onitsha Main Market by the Anambra State government.

Gossip News Now reports that Governor Charles Soludo ordered the closure of Onitsha Main Market for one week.

The directive followed traders’ refusal to open their shops on Monday, in continued compliance with the IPOB’s sit-at-home order. This comes despite repeated appeals from the government to traders, market leaders, and residents to disregard the directive, which officials say lacks legal backing and continues to disrupt economic activities in the state.

Ejimakor described the deployment of soldiers to the market as unconstitutional and urged the government to reverse the action.

Posting on 𝕏, he warned that failure to withdraw security personnel could lead to loss of lives.

He added, “The deployment of security agents (particularly soldiers) to quell the peaceful #OnitshaMarketClosure protest is unconstitutional & should be reversed immediately.

“If not, it may result in loss of lives, which Ndigbo will never forgive. Igbos have paid enough in blood & sorrow.”
