Alexer Pere, the former spouse of Nigerian singer Harrysong, has disclosed that she is temporarily stepping back from the custody of their two young children, citing intense emotional stress.
Gossip News Now reports that Alexer made the announcement in an emotional video shared via her Instagram story on Thursday morning, where she opened up about the difficult circumstances surrounding her decision.
In the heartfelt clip, she revealed that the choice was far from easy, explaining that it followed years of emotional pressure stemming from the collapse of her marriage. She described the experience as deeply painful but necessary for her wellbeing.
Alexer stated that she has been the primary caregiver for the children since their separation, adding that the kids have lived with her, attended school from her residence, and only had occasional contact with their father. According to her, this arrangement has remained in place for approximately two years.
She further alleged that her former husband has frequently disrupted her peace, claiming he often shows up at her home without prior notice, causing emotional tension and distress. She explained that the ongoing pressure has significantly affected her mental health, making it increasingly difficult to cope.
Alexer also referenced certain allegations contained in a petition reportedly filed by the singer, noting that she intends to address those matters at a later time.
However, she emphasized that the emotional burden had become unbearable, compelling her to temporarily surrender custody of the children.
Clarifying her stance, Alexer stressed that her decision does not signify abandonment, assuring that she fully intends to reunite with her children once she regains emotional stability.
She also voiced concerns regarding the children’s welfare, alleging that their father is often absent and that they may be left under the care of domestic staff despite their young ages.
Alexer disclosed that she previously resided in Asaba but later moved to Lagos after facing threats that made her fear for her safety. She maintained that her actions were not driven by weakness but rather by the need to protect her life and preserve her mental health.
Appealing to the public, she called for the safety of her children, stating that no mother willingly chooses separation from her kids but felt she had exhausted all other options. She reaffirmed her deep bond with them, promising that she would always return to remain a vital part of their lives.
In January 2024, Harrysong had publicly acknowledged the challenges in his marriage, requesting privacy for his family during that period.
Shortly afterward, Alexer shared a cryptic message on social media suggesting that their relationship had officially ended.
The former couple, who tied the knot in March 2021, share two children aged four and three.
