‘I’m Not Focused on Marriage or Serious Relationships Right Now’

Nigerian music star Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, popularly known as Iyanya, has revealed that pursuing a serious relationship or marriage is not on his agenda at the moment.

According to Gossip News Now , the ‘Kukere’ crooner shared his thoughts during a recent episode of the Afropolitan podcast, noting that he could only consider a partner who respects his current boundaries.

Iyanya explained that past experiences with former girlfriends, who he claims would manipulate him or threaten to damage his reputation during disagreements, have influenced his decision.

“These experiences really left a mark on me,” the singer admitted, “and that’s why I’m embracing celibacy for now. Committing to a relationship has become challenging for me.”

He added, “I’m not thinking of a serious relationship or marriage right now because I’m not mentally prepared. If someone is patient and willing to wait until I’m in the right place, then we can consider it. But at this point, being committed is one of the hardest things for me.”

Iyanya reflected on the pressures of fame, saying, “Being a celebrity comes with its own challenges. You always have people ready to broadcast your private disagreements online. I’m human; I have feelings. I’ve genuinely fallen in love before, but each time, threats of going public with our issues have made me wary. It’s happened repeatedly, and it’s contributed to my commitment issues.”
