A Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, Ossai Success, has criticised Chioma Adeleke, wife of Nigerian music star Davido, over her outfit at the Grammy Awards.
Gossip News Now reports that the 68th Grammy Awards took place on Sunday night at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Davido, who received a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category, attended the ceremony alongside Chioma, his elder sister Sharon Adeleke, and other associates.
Chioma, who made her first appearance at the globally renowned event, wore a sheer dress that has since generated widespread reactions and criticism across social media platforms.
Reacting via a post on his Facebook page, Ossai Success expressed disappointment with Chioma’s choice of outfit, stating that it was inappropriate for such a high-profile international event. He argued that her appearance did not reflect Nigerian cultural values and could have a negative influence on young Nigerians.
According to the governor’s aide, Chioma’s outfit failed to project modesty and cultural identity, particularly given her status as a public figure and role model. He also faulted Davido for not offering better guidance.
He wrote:
“I am disappointed in Chioma Davido’s dressing. She shouldn’t have been half-naked at the Grammy. She failed to represent Nigerian culture properly and instead embraced a revealing Western style.
“As a role model to many young Nigerian ladies, her international appearance could negatively influence them. I also expected Davido to guide her better.
“Cultural representation matters, and it is crucial. I am disappointed in Davido for allowing her to dress this way. I am truly disappointed.”
The comments have since added to the ongoing debate surrounding Chioma’s Grammy appearance and the broader conversation about cultural representation and celebrity influence on global platforms.
