Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed the comforting words his wife, Chioma Rowland Adeleke, shared with him after he missed out on a Grammy Award for the second time.
Gossip News Now reports that Davido’s collaboration with Omah Lay, With You, was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category at the Grammy Awards, but the singer did not emerge as the winner.
The award was claimed by South African artiste Tyla for her song Push 2 Start.
The category featured strong Nigerian representation, including Burna Boy with Love, Davido and Omah Lay’s With You, and Gimme Dat, a joint effort by Ayra Starr and Wizkid. Also nominated was Hope & Love by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin. Despite Nigeria’s dominant presence, none of the country’s nominees secured the prize.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, Davido opened up about his emotions after the loss. He disclosed that he initially told his wife they had lost again and suggested skipping the after-party.
However, Chioma responded with words that lifted his spirits and encouraged a positive outlook.
Sharing photos from their outing, Davido wrote:
“I said baby listen, we lost again, let’s not go! She said, ‘Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. We’re outside.’”
The singer’s post drew admiration from fans, many of whom praised Chioma’s supportive message and Davido’s openness about handling setbacks with grace.
