Nigerian reality TV personality Pere Egbi has cautioned young single women across the country against living alone, citing safety concerns.
Gossip News Now reports that the former Big Brother Naija housemate shared the advice via a post on social media, urging women to ensure they have someone living with them at all times. According to him, this could be a trusted friend or a family member.
Pere stressed that living alone as a woman in Nigeria is neither safe nor ideal, warning that companionship can provide added security and support.
He wrote:
“Personal advice to young women living in Nigeria who are single: don’t live alone by yourself. Always have someone stay with you — a friend or family member. It’s never a cool thing to live alone as a woman.”
His comments come amid widespread public reactions following the tragic death of rising Nigerian singer Ifunanya Nwangene. The 26-year-old artist reportedly died after being bitten by a snake in her Abuja residence.
Nwangene, a former contestant on The Voice Nigeria, was said to have been preparing for her first solo concert before the incident occurred. Reports indicate that the snake bite happened while she was asleep, and attempts to save her life were hindered by difficulties in accessing anti-venom at medical facilities.
The incident has since sparked nationwide concern over emergency healthcare services, with many Nigerians questioning the availability of critical, life-saving treatments across the country.
