“I don’t make empty promises,” Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has said, insisting that his commitment to deliver the state’s votes to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election is genuine.

Adeleke said his position was rooted in his belief in political integrity and the values he learnt from his late father.

Adeleke’s 2027 Commitment

Naija News reports that Adeleke made the declaration on Sunday while receiving the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, who paid him a visit.

The governor said he was fully committed to President Tinubu and would ensure that his pledge concerning Osun State was fulfilled.

Adeleke described Tinubu as his “dear father” and maintained that his promise to support the President in the forthcoming election was not an empty political statement.

“I don’t make empty promises. When I said we will deliver Osun State votes to our dear father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I mean it 100 per cent,” Adeleke said.

He also called for political cooperation in Osun State, arguing that political differences should not prevent people from working together.

According to the governor, politicians should approach their activities with integrity and focus on issues that benefit the state.

“Politics must be with integrity. We are all from Osun State. Let’s forget our differences and work for the President,” he added.

How Adeleke’s Previous Promise Shaped His Position

Adeleke also recalled his involvement in the political negotiations that preceded the emergence of Godswill Akpabio as President of the Senate and Tajudeen Abbas as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

At the time, Adeleke said there were indications that some members of his political group were supporting former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, for the Senate presidency.

Adeleke said the three senators representing the state, alongside members of the House of Representatives from Osun, eventually backed Akpabio and Abbas.
