Retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Frank Mba has opened a new law firm in Abuja, marking his transition into legal practice following a 34-year career in the Nigeria Police Force.

The firm, FRANK MBA LEGAL, was unveiled on Friday, October 9, 2026, at its office in Wuse 2, Abuja. The launch brought together serving and retired police officers, government officials, members of the National Assembly and other dignitaries.

Frank Mba Explains His Move into Legal Practice

Mba said he established the firm to continue contributing to society by combining his experience in policing, legal training and public service.

Speaking at the unveiling, the retired police chief described retirement as an opportunity to continue serving in a different capacity.

“Retirement is not the end of service; it is an opportunity to serve in a different capacity,” he said.

He explained that his work in legal practice would draw on his background in leadership, conflict management and the administration of justice. He also expressed his intention to protect rights and help resolve disputes.

Legal Qualifications Behind Frank Mba’s New Venture

Mba’s move into legal practice follows years of academic training in law. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Lagos, attended the Nigerian Law School and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002.

He later earned a Master of Laws degree with distinction from the University of Dundee in Scotland.

These qualifications form part of the professional background he brings to FRANK MBA LEGAL as he begins this new phase of his career.

A 34-Year Career in the Nigeria Police Force

Before retiring in March 2026, Mba spent 34 years in the Nigeria Police Force and held several senior positions.

He served as the Force Public Relations Officer on three occasions and also worked as the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State.

His responsibilities later included serving as Commissioner of Police in Ogun State. He was also part of the police management team responsible for the Department of Training and Development, where he contributed to personnel development.

His experience across public communications, police administration and leadership forms a significant part of the career history preceding his entry into legal practice.
