Bayern Munich have lodged a formal complaint with UEFA, criticizing what they described as last-minute and “unacceptable” security restrictions imposed by French authorities ahead of their Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.
In a statement, the German club said the Paris police prefecture introduced surprise measures that significantly complicated travel for away supporters. Among the restrictions, Bayern fan buses were instructed to remain outside the city limits until police escorts were available to guide them to and from the Parc des Princes.
Additionally, supporters were ordered to use public transport to reach the stadium, while fan buses would not be permitted to exit the Paris region until around 5 a.m. on Wednesday — hours after the 11 p.m. match concluded.
Bayern criticized the short notice, stressing that relevant logistical information had been known for weeks. The club also noted that PSG backed its protest.
The incident has reignited concerns about fan safety in Paris, recalling the chaotic scenes at the 2022 Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid at the Stade de France, where mismanagement and policing failures led to dangerous crowd congestion and heavy tear-gas use. UEFA was later found “primarily responsible” for failings that nearly resulted in a mass casualty disaster.
PSG vs Bayern Munich kicks off at 9 p.m. (WAT) tonight, November 4.
Trent Alexander-Arnold Mural Vandalized Ahead of Liverpool Reunion
A mural of Trent Alexander-Arnold near Anfield has been vandalized just hours before the Real Madrid defender’s emotional return to face his former club.
The artwork, originally painted in 2019 to mark Liverpool’s Champions League victory, was defaced with the word “Rat,” the phrase “adios el rata,” and splashes of white paint — the second time the mural has been targeted this year. Local residents quickly cleaned the site.
The vandalism comes amid mixed reactions from some Liverpool fans following Alexander-Arnold’s decision to join Real Madrid after his contract expired in June. The 27-year-old academy graduate will play against Liverpool for the first time since leaving, having won the Champions League, two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, and the EFL Cup during his time at the club.
On Monday, he joined the Real Madrid squad in paying tribute at the Anfield memorial for Diogo Jota, laying flowers in honor of his late former teammate.
Speaking ahead of the match, Alexander-Arnold said he would always remain grateful for his time at Liverpool, adding, “Whatever way I’m received is up to the fans. I’ll always love the club and be thankful for everything we achieved together.”
Liverpool vs Real Madrid kicks off at 9 p.m. (WAT) tonight, November 4.
