Nigerian music star Yemi Alade has addressed longstanding calls for a collaboration with fellow singer Tiwa Savage, stating that she is unlikely to work with the Afrobeats queen despite fans’ continued interest.

Speaking on the WithChude podcast on YouTube, the “Johnny” crooner said she prefers to avoid situations that might attract unnecessary controversy or tension in her life.

According to Alade, while she strongly supports female unity in the music industry and has worked with many female artists, a joint project with Tiwa Savage remains unlikely due to the drama often created by fans and media narratives.

“I know that the fan-favorite collaboration is Tiwa Savage. But I’d rather stay clear — I don’t want problems in my life,” she said.
“There is no issue at all. Most fans and the media like to stir waters that should remain calm. There is literally no problem.”

The two stars famously clashed in December 2018 after Yemi Alade appeared to shade female celebrities who “edit their bodies” in photos. Although she did not mention names, the post came shortly after Tiwa Savage had shared pictures highlighting her curves, sparking an online exchange between the pair. Tiwa later responded with a cryptic message: “Don’t start a war you can’t finish.”

Despite the lingering public perception of tension, Alade insists there is no personal conflict — only a desire to avoid drama.
