Barcelona Set to Face Athletic Bilbao at Renovated Camp Nou

FC Barcelona have announced that they will return to play at Camp Nou on 22 November, hosting Athletic Bilbao in a La Liga fixture.

This match will be the club’s first competitive game at their legendary home stadium in over two and a half years, ending an extended period away while major renovations were carried out.

Renovation work on Camp Nou, which began in 2022, aims to transform the historic stadium into a modern football arena. Improvements include increased seating capacity, a brand-new playing surface, reinforced internal structures, and several upgrades intended to enhance the fan experience on matchdays.

Barcelona last played at Camp Nou on 29 May 2023, defeating Mallorca 3–0. That match now serves as a symbolic farewell before the stadium was closed for construction, with the team relocating to temporary venues.

As the club prepares to reopen their doors, another significant story is unfolding in France. PSG manager Luis Enrique has reportedly shown strong interest in Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez. According to Swiss Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Enrique “holds Alvarez in high regard,” and the clubs are exploring a potential transfer. Atlético, however, are firm on a €120 million asking price.

Reports from France suggest that Álvarez fits perfectly into Enrique’s tactical setup and could top PSG’s winter transfer wishlist. The striker is reportedly keen to play under Enrique if an agreement can be reached.

Although Álvarez has drawn interest from English Premier League clubs and Barcelona, he has no plans to return to England, feeling he has already reached his peak there. Paris is seen as a viable next step, but the transfer fee remains a major hurdle.
