Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has announced that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is poised for significant political growth ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Atiku formally registered as a party member on Thursday in Yola, Adamawa, and shared the milestone publicly on the social platform 𝕏 on Friday. He posted photos of himself receiving his ADC membership card alongside a customized Waziri 01 jersey, adding a symbolic and colorful touch to the brief ceremony.

Gossip News Now reports that the registration event, though short, drew a crowd of party leaders, community figures, youth groups, and loyal supporters from across Adamawa State.

Highlighting the party’s expanding national influence, Atiku praised ADC’s grassroots consolidation and ongoing nationwide movement. He wrote:

“Yesterday, the ADC train made a stopover in Jalingo for the unveiling of the Taraba State secretariat of the Coalition Party. There’s no stopping the ADC; it is heading your way.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Ovation magazine publisher Dele Momodu urged opposition figures to form strategic alliances with Atiku, describing such moves as essential for a “rescue mission” for Nigeria. Momodu spoke at the closing lecture of a week-long celebration in Jada, organised to mark Atiku’s birthday, tracing the former Vice-President’s political journey while emphasizing his democratic principles and commitment to non-violence.

A statement from Atiku’s media office quoted Momodu as saying:

“During the 1993 SDP primary, Atiku stepped down for my adopted father, MKO Abiola, allowing him to win the ticket.

Atiku is not a common politician; he has been betrayed many times but always chooses peace and patience.

He is not violent; you will never see him parade thugs around him. God has blessed him with excellent health and success in business.

He pursues his ambition with clarity, without violence.”

Momodu also highlighted Atiku’s legal battles over election outcomes, noting that they have strengthened Nigeria’s constitutional direction, and warned against discouraging quality leadership.

“When we refuse to encourage good people, the worst amongst us thrive,” he added.
