Preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations 2025 are gathering momentum as Morocco showcases a collection of modern stadiums expected to host the continent’s biggest football event.

The tournament, scheduled between December 21, 2025 and January 18, 2026, will be staged across several major Moroccan cities. Organisers have highlighted a blend of historic football arenas and newly upgraded venues designed to deliver a memorable experience for fans and players.

According to Gossip News Now, the selected stadiums demonstrate Morocco’s ambition to raise the standard of AFCON hosting through modern facilities, improved infrastructure, and carefully planned match venues.

Rabat Takes Centre Stage

Morocco’s capital city will serve as the primary hub of the competition.

One of the flagship venues is Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah, a large stadium with close to seventy thousand seats. Recently renovated, the arena is expected to host some of the tournament’s most important matches.

The opening fixture featuring Morocco and Comoros will be played there, and the venue is also scheduled to stage the final and a semi-final clash.

Another facility in Rabat, Stade El Barid, will feature several group-stage matches as well as one Round of 16 encounter.

Meanwhile, Prince Moulay El Hassan Stadium will host all fixtures in one of the tournament’s groups, including games involving Algeria.

Casablanca Hosts Key Fixtures

The historic Stade Mohammed V will also play a central role in the competition.

First opened in the mid-20th century, the stadium is widely known for its passionate crowds and iconic football atmosphere.

During AFCON 2025, it will host group-stage matches involving teams such as Mali, Zambia, Sudan, and Burkina Faso. The stadium has also been selected as the venue for the tournament’s third-place playoff.

Coastal and Regional Cities Join the Spotlight

Morocco’s hosting responsibilities extend well beyond the capital region.

The Grand Stade d’Agadir will stage several important matches, including games involving Egypt as well as a quarter-final clash.

Another major venue is the Complexe Sportif de Fès, where the Nigeria national football team will play their group fixtures against Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda.

In Marrakech, the Grand Stade de Marrakech will feature matches involving Côte d’Ivoire, South Africa, Mozambique, and Angola.

Further north, the Ibn Battuta Stadium will stage all Group D matches, including those featuring defending champions Senegal.

Commentary and Analysis

Morocco’s selection of stadiums highlights the country’s strategic investment in sports infrastructure over the past decade.

By combining renovated historic venues with modern arenas, the host nation aims to deliver a tournament that balances tradition with contemporary standards.

Sports analysts note that distributing matches across multiple cities also encourages tourism and regional economic activity, allowing fans to experience Morocco’s diverse culture while following their teams.

With high-capacity stadiums, modern training facilities, and upgraded transport links, AFCON 2025 could become one of the most technically advanced editions of the tournament in recent history.

If the infrastructure performs as expected, Morocco’s hosting model may influence how future African football tournaments are organised and delivered.
