Sabinus Clarifies Rumours, Says Marriage with Ciana Ended Amicably

Spread the love

Popular Nigerian comedian Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, widely recognised by fans as Sabinus or Mr Funny, has spoken publicly about reports surrounding the end of his marriage to Ciana Chapman.

The entertainer confirmed that the relationship has indeed come to an end but explained that the separation occurred without conflict or hostility between both parties.

Sabinus made the clarification while interacting with fans during a live session alongside fellow comedian Carter Efe on TikTok. During the conversation, he dismissed several rumours circulating online regarding the circumstances of the breakup.

In addressing the speculation, the comedian emphasised that he and Ciana maintain a cordial relationship despite no longer being married. He also reassured supporters that their daughter is healthy and well cared for.

According to Gossip News Now, speculation about tensions in the couple’s relationship began circulating in 2024, with social media discussions linking the comedian to alleged domestic disagreements and infidelity claims. Sabinus, however, avoided discussing those allegations directly and focused instead on clarifying that the separation was mutual and peaceful.

Sabinus Reflects on Early Struggles Before Comedy Fame

In a separate interview with media personality VJ Adams, Sabinus shared details about his personal journey into the entertainment industry.

He revealed that his father initially disapproved of his decision to pursue comedy. According to Sabinus, his family had hoped he would build a career in law.

After unsuccessful attempts to gain admission into law school, the comedian eventually enrolled to study Linguistics and Communication at the University of Port Harcourt.

While studying at the university, he began experimenting with comedy skits, gradually developing the character-driven style that would later make him popular on social media platforms.

Sabinus recalled that his father once dismissed comedy as an unserious profession and even regretted supporting his education when he saw his son focusing on skit creation.

Over time, however, that perception changed as Sabinus gained recognition and financial success from his online content and performances.

Commentary and Analysis

Sabinus’ story reflects a broader trend in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, where digital platforms have created new pathways for comedians and content creators to build successful careers.

Many performers initially face scepticism from family members who view entertainment as an uncertain profession. However, the rapid growth of online media has transformed comedy skits and digital storytelling into viable career paths for young creatives.

The comedian’s openness about both his personal life and career struggles highlights how social media personalities increasingly connect with fans by sharing their experiences beyond the stage.
