Nigerian singer Sola Allyson has opened up about why she does not mention the name of Jesus in her songs, addressing a question that many fans have wondered about for years.
In a recent interview with Oyinmomo TV posted on YouTube on Friday, Allyson explained that she has always introduced herself simply as a singer, not a gospel artist.
She noted that while many people label her music as gospel due to its calm and meaningful messages, she has never described it that way herself.
“I sing from the heart and from personal experience, not to fit into any category,” she said. “My songs are meant to inspire, guide, and comfort people. I believe God can use my voice without me repeating certain names.”
Allyson added that she focuses on themes such as truth, life, and personal growth, aiming to help listeners feel peace, reflect deeply, and connect with God in their own way. She emphasized that her music remains consistent because she wants her message to be honest and free from external pressure.
“My listeners understand my path, and my songs reach people from different backgrounds because they connect to the emotion and wisdom in my words,” she said.
She concluded by saying, “I don’t sing religious songs. I don’t call myself a gospel artiste. My name is Sola Allyson. I am a singer. Jesus didn’t say we should be mentioning His name. He didn’t say we should use His name for PR.”
