The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated its Delta State Committee, affirming its readiness to challenge President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration took place on Wednesday in Asaba, with the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, stating that the committee’s mandate includes establishing functional party offices across local governments, wards, and units, as well as conducting grassroots sensitization to engage the public with the party’s agenda.

“The exercise is designed to promote and familiarise the public with the party,” Abdullahi said, stressing that the ADC’s mission, from the federal to state level, is centered on restoring justice, equity, and transparency in governance.

Abdullahi emphasized the party’s commitment to reshaping Nigerian politics.
“The problem Nigeria faces today stems from the kind of politics we have practiced over the years. To set Nigeria on a new trajectory and make politics work for the people, we must do things differently. ADC is committed to ensuring justice, equity, and transparency at all levels. That is what we plan to bring back as we aim to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the coming election,” he said.

He also criticized the state of development in Delta, despite its wealth of resources.
“When I returned to Delta, one thing surprised me—nothing appeared to have changed since my previous visits as a federal minister. Delta is one of Nigeria’s most resource-rich states, yet development seems stagnant. Other less-resourced states show transformation year after year. This is the kind of commitment ADC brings: whoever is elected on our platform will work for the people, because anything less is unacceptable,” Abdullahi added.

The ADC spokesperson questioned the ruling party’s performance in Delta, asking:
“Has APC improved the lives of Deltans in the last two and a half years? If the answer is no, then the only viable option is ADC, which will take over Delta State.”

He described the ADC as the remaining credible opposition in Nigeria, asserting that its mission goes beyond politics to a national vision aimed at rescuing ordinary Nigerians.

During the event, the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark, represented by Babachir Lawal, charged the Transition Management Committee to uphold the party’s constitution and operational guidelines. He warned against corruption, ticket-trading, manipulation of primaries, and other practices common in rival parties.

Mark praised Delta leaders for their commitment to the ADC project and urged cooperation with the national leadership to strengthen party structures across the state.

National Vice Chairman (South-South), Usani Uguru Usani, encouraged members in the Niger Delta not to be discouraged by past political setbacks and to remain steadfast in their efforts.

Gossip News Now reports that the newly inaugurated committee includes notable figures such as Chief Great Ogboru, former APGA governorship candidate in 2023, and Dcn. Kennedy Pela, among others.
