Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has demanded ₦1 billion in damages from Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of Grace Nation Liberation City, alleging that the cleric failed to fulfill a promise to marry her.

Gossip News Now reports that Ogala’s demand, delivered through her lawyers at Synergy Law Partners, gives Pastor Okafor 21 days to comply or face legal action.

According to the letter, the alleged nine-year relationship, which began in 2017, involved repeated promises from Pastor Okafor to marry her. Ogala’s lawyers stated that these promises were reinforced by his actions, including introducing her to family members and attending public events together.

Ogala reportedly relied on these assurances when making personal decisions, including leaving a troubled marriage and providing the pastor with access to her finances, with one transfer reportedly totaling ₦45 million.

The dispute escalated after Pastor Okafor announced his engagement to another woman. Ogala’s legal team claims this caused her emotional distress, reputational damage, and public scrutiny, and also alleges that private photographs were shared without her consent.

While acknowledging that marriage cannot be legally enforced, the letter notes that the law allows for compensation in cases where broken promises cause harm. Ogala’s lawyers are seeking both general and aggravated damages, highlighting the personal and public consequences of the alleged breach.

Pastor Okafor and his legal team were unavailable for comment at the time of reporting.

The matter has attracted public attention following the pastor’s recent marriage, which proceeded despite Ogala’s threats to take legal action and disrupt the ceremony.
