Newcastle United’s manager, Eddie Howe, has firmly dismissed speculation linking him with the recently vacated managerial position at Manchester United, reiterating that he is content at St James’ Park and has no plans to depart.

The rumours gained traction following Manchester United’s decision to part ways with Ruben Amorim on Monday, but Howe was quick to put the speculation to rest. Asked whether he could be lured away, he replied simply: “No, not at this moment.”

“For me, what matters most is being happy in the role, enjoying the job, and having strong relationships with the people around me,” Howe explained. He emphasized that while managerial circumstances can change, he currently feels stable and fulfilled in his position.

Since taking the reins at Newcastle in November 2021, Howe has become one of the Premier League’s longest-serving managers, surpassed only by Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta, and Marco Silva in terms of tenure. His time at the club has been marked by both progress on the pitch and occasional internal adjustments behind the scenes.

Last summer, Newcastle experienced a shake-up when sporting director Paul Mitchell left after less than a year. Howe has since built a positive working relationship with his replacement, Ross Wilson, marking the third sporting director he has collaborated with at the club. In addition, Howe has worked with two different chief executives following Darren Eales’ departure.

Despite these transitions, Howe insists his focus remains squarely on his responsibilities. “I’m settled here as long as I can express myself fully and be the best version of myself,” he said, highlighting the importance of a supportive environment.

On the field, Newcastle currently sit ninth in the Premier League, trailing fifth place by just two points. The team has also advanced to the Carabao Cup semi-finals and is well positioned for a Champions League last-16 play-off spot, reflecting the club’s competitive progress under Howe.

The manager also underlined the critical role of unity and trust between staff and ownership. “For any football club to succeed, there needs to be unity from top to bottom. Everyone has to be pulling in the same direction,” he stated, praising the support he receives from the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund and minority shareholder Jamie Reuben.

“I’ve always had an excellent relationship with the board, and that hasn’t changed. Mutual confidence and trust are vital, and I hope that continues for a long time,” Howe added, reaffirming his commitment to Newcastle amid the ongoing speculation.
