The father of late Afrobeats artiste Destiny Boy, Afeez Adeshina, has called on Nigerians to assist him after his son’s Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) reportedly went missing just days after the young singer’s death.
In a video that surfaced online on Tuesday, the visibly troubled father voiced his fears about the whereabouts of the vehicle. He claimed that the SUV was taken back to the dealership shortly after Destiny Boy passed away and has not been returned since.
He explained that the SUV was purchased from Lycon Autos and that he was present when the transaction took place. According to him, the dealership provided a driver to deliver the vehicle to their home on the day it was bought, and the same driver later became Destiny Boy’s personal driver.
Appealing for help, the bereaved father said the situation became complicated when the driver alleged that the late singer owed him money. He claimed the driver then returned the SUV to the car dealer without informing any family member.
The distraught man added that he does not even have the driver’s contact details, stressing that if the vehicle were available, he would have personally gone to retrieve it.
Destiny Boy passed away on Sunday at the age of 22. Earlier, his mother, Saida, revealed that the singer had been battling a long-term, unexplained illness known locally as “Ogu oru,” which often caused seizures.
Speaking on Monday, she disclosed that the family explored medical, traditional, and spiritual options in an attempt to manage his condition. She noted that the illness was kept private because of her son’s growing status in the music industry.
Saida also dismissed speculations linking Destiny Boy’s death to money rituals, describing such reports as false, hurtful, and insensitive. She maintained that the family exhausted all possible efforts to see that the young artiste recovered before his untimely passing.
