Senator Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang has officially left the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker’s defection was formally announced on the floor of the Senate on Thursday through a letter read by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
In his letter, Dachungyang explained that his decision was prompted by unresolved internal disagreements within the ADP, which he described as irreconcilable.
He added that the APC presents a more suitable platform that would enable him to better serve the interests and aspirations of his constituents.
APGA Releases Anambra LG Primary Election Timetable
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has unveiled its provisional schedule for conducting primary elections ahead of the 2026 local government elections in Anambra State.
The party disclosed that the timetable was approved in accordance with the provisions of its constitution and the official electoral calendar issued by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission.
In a statement released on Thursday in Awka, APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, announced that the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms would begin on January 27.
According to him, the exercise will continue until February 6 at the party’s regional secretariat in Awka.
Opara further stated that the screening of aspirants for chairmanship and councillorship positions is scheduled to take place between February 7 and February 11.
He explained that the screening process would be conducted across the state’s 21 local government areas and 326 wards.
The statement also revealed that appeals arising from the screening exercise would be handled on February 13.
It added that ward congresses for the election of councillorship candidates and ad-hoc delegates have been fixed for February 14.
APGA also disclosed that the chairmanship primary election is slated for February 15 in Awka.
