Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has rewarded three Government House staff members with brand new Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) after personally and discreetly assessing their work attitude and commitment.

In a post shared on his verified 𝕏 handle, the governor revealed that he deliberately adjusted his schedule to observe whether staff would leave work early, noting that none of them did.

According to Okpebholo, the gesture was intended to recognise discipline, dedication, and integrity within the civil service.

Describing the moment as a case of opportunity meeting preparedness, the governor explained that the observation confirmed the staff members’ consistency in resuming early and closing late without compromising standards.

“I rewarded three outstanding staff with brand new SUVs because hard work must be recognised and appreciated,” he stated.

He added that diligence in public service never goes unnoticed, stressing that commitment to duty is always being observed—even at the highest level.

“When you serve Edo State with discipline, commitment and integrity, someone is watching. Yes, even the Governor. This is my way of saying thank you and encouraging others to continue giving their best. We are here to serve the people of Edo State, and excellence will always be rewarded,” Okpebholo said.

Meanwhile, the governor has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening governance, improving efficiency, and enhancing service delivery across the state.

The reshuffle, which affects three strategic positions within the Edo State Executive Council, takes effect from January 30, 2026.

Announcing the development in a statement on Thursday, the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, said the adjustments were designed to reposition the administration for improved coordination and more effective policy execution.

According to the statement, Vincent Osas Uwadiae has been redeployed from the Ministry of Oil and Gas Resources to the Ministry of Lands and Housing, where he will now serve as Commissioner.

It was also disclosed that Yakubu Oshiorenua Musa, who previously served as Commissioner for Lands and Housing, has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff to the Governor.

Musa replaces Gani Audu, who has been nominated as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources. Audu’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly in line with constitutional provisions.

Governor Okpebholo expressed confidence that the cabinet adjustments would improve internal coordination and accelerate the implementation of government policies and programmes.

He noted that the changes were aimed at deploying experience where it is most needed while ensuring greater efficiency in the administration of the state’s affairs.

The cabinet reshuffle officially takes effect on January 30, 2026.
