All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, has issued a strong warning to activist Omoyele Sowore over his call for the release of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
In a post shared on his Facebook page titled “Final Warning to Omoyele Sowore,” Igbokwe cautioned the activist to distance himself from Kanu’s case, describing it as a matter far beyond his control.
According to Igbokwe, Sowore should “run 440” from Kanu’s issue, alleging that the IPOB leader and his followers were responsible for widespread violence and killings across the Southeast.
He wrote: “Omoyele Sowore says he is marching to Aso Rock to protest the detention of the Butcher of the South East called Nnamdi Kanu. I have told him as a friend to run 440. I have also alerted his younger brother, Barrister Allen Sowore, to warn him because this matter is bigger than him.”
The APC stalwart accused Kanu of causing massive bloodshed and turning the Southeast into what he described as “a killing field” over the past decade.
“Nnamdi Kanu shed thousands of innocent blood in the Southeast. His men made the region a place where life became nasty, brutish, and short — a land in chaos,” Igbokwe alleged.
He went on to criticize the IPOB movement, calling it a “senseless enterprise” that had pushed the Igbo nation backward by decades.
“It was a useless business venture that dragged the Igbo nation back by 50 years. We lost our respect, honor, and dignity. Whatever came over our people, I still cannot understand,” he lamented.
Addressing Sowore directly, Igbokwe warned him to avoid entanglement in what he described as a dangerous and misguided cause.
“Sowore, Sowore, Sowore — how many times did I call you? Run 440 from the Southeast matter. You know nothing about what Nnamdi Kanu did there in the last 10 years. Go to Nnewi and see my home. Speak to the people before joining this senseless mission. The road leads to nowhere,” he cautioned.
Igbokwe concluded by advising Nigerians from other regions to steer clear of the controversy surrounding Kanu and to ignore Sowore’s protest plans, describing the activism as “childish, outdated, and reckless.”
