Chioma Adeleke, wife of Nigerian music star Davido, has reacted to criticism surrounding the outfit she wore to the Grammy Awards, making it clear that she stands by her fashion choice.
Gossip News Now reports that the 68th Grammy Awards took place on Sunday night at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Davido, who was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category, attended the ceremony alongside Chioma, his elder sister Sharon Adeleke, and other associates.
Chioma, who made her debut appearance at the prestigious global event, wore a sheer dress that quickly sparked backlash across social media platforms.
Despite the criticism, Chioma late Monday night shared photos of herself and her husband from the awards ceremony on her Instagram page. The post triggered further reactions from followers.
One female follower advised her against wearing the outfit again, commenting:
“Nne, no wear this cloth again inugo. However, your husband loves you o.”
Responding directly to the comment, Chioma replied:
“I will wear it again.”
Meanwhile, the controversy has continued to attract reactions from public figures. The Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, Ossai Success, also criticised Chioma’s outfit.
In a post shared on his Facebook page, the governor’s aide expressed disappointment, stating that Chioma’s appearance was inappropriate for the international event. He argued that the outfit did not properly reflect Nigerian cultural values and could negatively influence young Nigerians.
The differing reactions have further fueled public debate over Chioma’s Grammy appearance, celebrity fashion choices, and expectations surrounding cultural representation on global stages.
