The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stated that political figures in Rivers State have the capacity to organise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu without depending on the endorsement of a sitting governor.

He made this known on Saturday during the commissioning of the Port Harcourt office of the Rivers State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, where he addressed party members and supporters.

According to Wike, the state already has an established network of influential officeholders capable of driving political mobilisation on their own. He pointed out that the structure includes senators, members of the National Assembly, state lawmakers, local government chairmen, as well as party leaders across both the APC and PDP.

The former Rivers governor stressed that authentic political loyalty is driven by individual conviction rather than instructions from any single authority. He explained that those backing the President had chosen to organise themselves as a sign of deliberate commitment.

Wike also described the move as evidence of cooperation among key political stakeholders in Rivers State, noting that several leaders had willingly aligned themselves in support of the President’s agenda.

His remarks come against the backdrop of an ongoing political rift between him and the current Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, over influence and control of the state’s political machinery.
