Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has promised to drive major transformation across Northern Nigeria if elected president, saying the region deserves stronger security, economic opportunities and inclusive governance built on cooperation rather than division.

Obi Outlines Vision for Northern Nigeria

Making his case during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Peter Obi said his administration would place Northern Nigeria at the centre of its development agenda by addressing the challenges that have slowed the region’s progress.

The former Anambra State governor maintained that insecurity, economic hardship and social divisions cannot be solved through political rhetoric alone, insisting that practical leadership and collaboration with communities are essential.

According to Obi, he possesses a clear understanding of the region’s realities and is prepared to work with stakeholders to deliver meaningful change.

“I will change the North. I have an idea of what is happening in the North, and nobody can drive that process in Nigeria better than me.”

“As I said, a new Nigeria is possible. At any particular point in time, know that you cannot be trapped in the process of yesterday. Those who are trapped in the process of yesterday must see the future,” Obi stated.

Continuing his message, the NDC presidential candidate said Nigeria’s diversity should serve as a source of strength rather than division.

He urged political leaders and citizens alike to embrace dialogue, mutual understanding and collective responsibility in tackling the country’s challenges.

“There must be a time to know that we are the same. We must come together. Yes, we are listening, but we must not be trapped in it. They must not deprive us tomorrow,” he said.
