President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently attending the 15th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
The meeting began at 6:05 p.m. on Friday following the arrival of the President at the venue. Friday’s session marks the APC’s second NEC meeting in 2025, after the first was held in February.
It is also the first NEC meeting since Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda assumed office as the party’s National Chairman in July.
Proceedings opened with a Christian prayer led by Taraba State Governor, Kefas Agbu. The NEC meeting comes shortly after the APC rescheduled its National Caucus and NEC meetings from December 15–16 to December 18–19.
The session is taking place at the Presidential Villa, with several governors and top party leaders in attendance, according to The PUNCH.
Present at the meeting are serving and former APC governors, principal officers of the National Assembly, and other key party stakeholders. Also in attendance are six governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who recently defected to the APC.
They include Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara; Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah; Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori; Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri; Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno; and Taraba State Governor Kefas Agbu.
The APC NEC is the party’s highest decision-making body between national conventions. It comprises the President, Vice President, National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee, governors, and other key stakeholders, and is responsible for making binding decisions on party administration, policy direction, and preparations for future elections.
