Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said his dancing lifestyle does not diminish his performance as an elected public official, insisting that he will continue to dance while delivering good governance to the people of the state.
Adeleke made the remarks shortly after being declared the winner of the August 15 governorship election, while speaking during an interview with Channels Television on Sunday.
The governor also revealed that he would visit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to celebrate his re-election victory and teach the President some of his dance steps.
Adeleke Defends His Dancing
Adeleke’s comments came amid criticisms from some quarters over his frequent public displays of dancing, particularly from political opponents.
Despite the criticism, the governor maintained that dancing does not interfere with his responsibilities as the elected governor of Osun State.
He said he would maintain his dancing lifestyle while remaining focused on delivering good governance to the people of the state.
For Adeleke, his public image as a dancing governor does not conflict with his responsibilities in office.
“I’ll Teach Tinubu My Dancing Steps”
Speaking about his plans following his re-election, Adeleke said he would visit Tinubu to celebrate his victory with the President.
The governor added that the visit would provide an opportunity for him to teach Tinubu some of his dance steps.
His comments came after he secured another term in office following the August 15 governorship election.
The Tinubu Endorsement
Beyond his comments about dancing and his planned visit to Tinubu, Adeleke’s relationship with the President has also attracted political attention ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Imole Campaign Council has dismissed suggestions that Adeleke’s support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid was based on a political agreement between the two camps.
The council said the governor’s position was instead informed by what it described as Tinubu’s performance and economic reforms.
Campaign Council Explains Adeleke’s Position
Spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, made the clarification in a post on his 𝕏 handle on Sunday.
He was reacting to comments by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who had congratulated Adeleke on his re-election.
Keyamo also praised the Osun governor for publicly endorsing Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The campaign council’s explanation places Adeleke’s support for Tinubu within the context of the President’s performance and economic policies, rather than an undisclosed political arrangement.
What The Development Means
Adeleke’s statements present two aspects of his political positioning following his re-election.
On one hand, he continues to defend the personal style that has become closely associated with his public image, arguing that his dancing does not affect his performance as governor.
On the other, his willingness to publicly support Tinubu ahead of 2027 and his stated intention to visit the President show that he is maintaining a relationship with the President at the national level.
However, the available information does not establish that the relationship represents a formal political agreement or indicate what specific political arrangements, if any, may emerge between the two camps.
What’s Next?
With Adeleke beginning another term as Osun governor and the 2027 presidential election approaching, his relationship with Tinubu is likely to remain a subject of political attention.
For now, Adeleke has made clear that he intends to continue his distinctive public style while focusing on governance in Osun State, even as his campaign council maintains that his support for Tinubu is based on the President’s performance and economic reforms.
